Welcome, First Years!
Dear incoming first year students,
Hello and welcome! 😄
On behalf of the FMUA, we welcome you to the Faculty of Music. It must have been quite a decision to attend the University of Toronto but we are happy to welcome you to the school community with open arms!
Who is the FMUA? 🤔
The FMUA (Faculty of Music Undergraduate Association) is the official undergraduate student association at the Faculty of Music. The FMUA works to bridge the student population, faculty, and community members to collaboratively work towards the association’s two main objectives: to promote a positive social and academic environment which fosters community, and to advocate for academic and student rights.
If you do not know who I am (99.9% chance you don't), I am Elyssa Arde, the Vice President of Communications of the FMUA. I am a 4th year student studying Music Education and classical percussion. I am also taking a few performance courses! Anyway, as the VP of Communications, I will be your first point of contact on behalf of the FMUA.

Interested in running for the FMUA? 🤝
As first year students, you may also have the opportunity to run for a vacant position on the FMUA in our Fall Elections if you are interested. The details will be out in September. For first year students, we offer 2 specific roles which are:
- Two (2) - First Year Classical Directors
- One (1) - First Year Jazz Director
You may also run for any other positions that are currently vacant. Please read the descriptions for each role on our website.
Orientation! (FOMO) 🙌
Having our introduction aside, I strongly recommend you to keep an eye on your emails for the next few months as the orientation team will be in touch with you about the upcoming Faculty of Music Orientation! You can follow the @fomorientation page on instagram for more real time updates. Our website will also follow those updates accordingly on the "Orientation" page. Keep an eye on those emails, you don't want to have a fear of missing out I believe there was already an email sent so check your inboxes!

Speaking of social media, you may also follow the FMUA on Instagram and Facebook @fmua_uoft for more updates on the school community. This year we plan to be very active and responsive to the student body through social media and through email. We will also be releasing monthly newsletters for the duration of the school year! You may find the newsletter in your emails or on the website.
