Summer Greetings from the FMUA

Hello Faculty of Music students,

Greetings! 😄

On behalf of the FMUA, I hope everyone's summer has been restful and enjoyable! I sure have been resting a lot since a tiresome winter term.

As most of you may know, the FMUA is the official student association of the Faculty of Music. For those who don't know, Hello! The Faculty of Music Undergraduate Association is the bridge between the student body, staff, and community at the faculty and we work together to promote a positive social and academic environment that fosters the community on our campus. We also advocate for academic and student rights.

I am Elyssa Arde, the Vice President of Communications of the FMUA. I am heading into my 4th year of music education and classical percussion. As the VP of Communications, I will be your first point of contact on behalf of the FMUA. If you have any general questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at vpcommunications@fmua.ca

For more specific questions or concerns, please email my colleagues on the FMUA Executive Team:

FMUA Website & Social Media 💻

If you would like to read and learn more about the FMUA, and the positions, please visit our newly updated website: fmua.ca

On our website, we added a calendar that might be convenient for the student body! The calendar will include FMUA events, deadlines such as the IGA deadline, and important school dates.

The website is currently being updated by the social media committee and I and we are hoping to have it fully updated with new information and highlighting the old information by the end of June. We want the website to be a tool for you to stay up-to-date with the school community.

If you do not already follow the FMUA on Instagram or Facebook, you may follow us @fmua_uoft. It is my goal to have our platforms updated and active with the most recent news/information.

Summer Music Mentor Sign-Up 👥

Want to mentor an incoming student and help them prepare for the year ahead of them? Summer music mentors is a service that the FMUA offers to incoming first years to answer their questions about what studying music may be like or how their first year will look for them. This is also a way of meeting new students and creating connections amongst the student body!

The IGA Returns with a Summer Edition! 💵

The IGA (Individual Grant Application) is a grant that the FMUA offers to students who are pursuing summer education related to music. This could be a summer program, a co-curricular performance, and any other music-related initiatives. This grant helps offset some of the costs that are associated with these initiatives. For more information, please visit the bursaries, grants, and awards page on our website.

The IGA deadline has been extended to June 23rd at 11:59pm.

---

With all of that being said, the FMUA wishes everyone a fun and restful summer. Good luck to those who are participating in summer programs and initiatives!

This year, the monthly newsletter will return through email so keep an eye out for those 👀

Thank you for your time,
