Events & Announcements: June 22-28th, 2024

Dear Board of Directors:

These are the events and news that have been logged from June 22nd to June 28th, 2024.

Prof. Robin Elliott to retire from Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs on June 30, 2024

I have taken this opportunity to send him a thank you card from the FMUA. He has served this year in assisting us with many aspects of our Association and our gratitude should be more than expected.

Music Cafe

The Music Cafe discussion continues with the Faculty and Central. Progress is being made, however, our situation surrounding Cafe has now been placed on looser ground. For a full analysis, please see the shared Google Drive folder titled “Cafe Master Planning”.

Summer IGAs, Niki

The first ever Summer IGAs have closed! Huge thank you to Niki for getting the first wave of IGA emails out; the cheques should soon be flowing!

Merch, Jay

The merch designs are looking really great, I do believe that Jay will send out an update surrounding the merch soon, since they are about to be vectorized and ready for production for the website.

90W & Jazz Updates

Nothing from the Dean yet in terms of Jazz Town Hall updates, however, there has been some progress being made in terms of quality of life (water fountains) improvements to the jazz side of 90W. Thank you Jay!

Incorporation & Bylaws

I thank the Board for getting together so quickly for the incorporation vote. Our next steps are to incorporate as soon as we can. On the topic of the bylaws, please check the Slack for the first draft of the bylaws to be voted on soon.

Annual General Meeting

This summer, we must hold the Annual General Meeting (AGM). We must hold one every year (15 months) according to our bylaws. The rules surrounding the AGM will make a summer edition difficult to organize, however, I think if we can get enough students to Zoom in to the proceedings, we can make Quorum. This is also important in terms of getting the updated bylaws passed, too.

Newsletter & Website, Elyssa

The newsletter to the incoming first-years (and upper years!) have been sent out! Furthermore, the website has been updated once again — check it out if you have not had a chance to yet! Thank you Elyssa!

Summer Music Mentors, Claudia

The Summer Music Mentors program is in full swing! Match ups will happen very soon according to our VP Academic, and the numbers are already better than the previous year’s! Thank you Claudia!

Yours faithfully,

Eric
