Boycott Your Course Evaluations

Dear students and faculty,

I apologize for not keeping this website up to date. Currently, it is now up-to-date with the most recent information, including meeting minutes, noteworthy news, a new google calendar integration, and more. I hope to pass my role onto Roanna & Charlotte to get this website to its best form for everyone. Thank you, and my apologies.

Sincerely,

Elyssa Arde, VP Communications 2024-2025

So… Why are we boycotting our course evaluations?

By boycotting this system, we are able to pressure the Faculty to reform course evaluations and ensure it is their first priority. It is so that they can figure out a system for the 2025 Fall Semester, where students can view their peers' aggregate scores and lead them into making informed decisions on which courses to enrol in.

In simpler words: Our course evaluations do not run like any other faculty. The other faculties make their course evaluations anonymous and public for students to view and this leads them to making informed decisions on whether they should take a course or not. Why don’t we have this at the Faculty of Music? Have you ever taken a course blindly and the only information you had on the course was the description on the Faculty of Music Calendar website? We want to elevate this decision making process in a way where you can see student input on the course.

This is not an attempt to harm the concept students writing feedback to their professors. In fact, the FMUA shall serve as an anonymous messenger service for comments about Music courses this semester. If you have comments on your course(s), positive or negative, but would still like to boycott your course evaluations, you may send your comments to speaker@fmua.ca and it will be delivered anonymously to your course instructor.
