New Music Stands (PLEASE READ)

Hello Faculty of Music!

On behalf of our VP Internal Niki Tang, I present this message to you regarding the new Manhasset music stands.

The FMUA exec team has been working hard the past week to organize music stands and replacing broken ones. All music stands are now labeled with room number and stand number. Thank you Andrea and Carina for booking the rooms so we can get our work done and thank you to Duc for fixing the broken stands!

Here are the current summer EJB music stands distribution - with all of them labeled with room number and stand number:

109, 120, 209, 215, 216, 217, 224, 225 - 6 music stands
130 - 10 music stands
330 - 12 music stands
GT and BN - 50 stands each, colour coded for ensemble managers
Walter Hall - 30 stands in total
333 & 328 - 5 music stands
308 & 310 - 5 music stands

Please keep the stands in their room! This will ensure that chamber groups have enough stands to rehearse, have coaching, and that ensemble managers will not have to spend time looking for music stands which delays the rehearsal process. Please also keep them inside the Edward Johnson Building

The FMUA is going to roll out a program soon for people who need music stands for gigs. Keep an eye out for it in the FMUA monthly newsletter (limited amount, first come first serve basis). These new stands are also purchased with FMUA funds and we cannot afford to replace huge amounts of them every year as they cost $86 dollars each (with discount already!!).

Practice rooms and 90 Wellesley stands are coming soon! ETA is currently the beginning of September. Stay tuned for those! Studio rooms will also get new stands which are also planned to arrive at the beginning of September.

Thank you for your support of the FMUA so far! The team has been working hard during the summer with audits, cafe, IGA, music stands, SSP tutoring program, events that Jay, our VP student life, has been working hard in contacting event venues (therapy dogs September 6!). We are also hoping to create transparency and better communication in our finance - feel free to dm or email vpinternal@fmua.ca if you have any questions.

Your support is vital for there to always be more than enough music stands. Please keep them in their labeled rooms, put them back if you absolutely need to move it, and fill out this form https://forms.gle/gJ9vRo1SDgsGhmbRA if there are stands broken so we can order and replace them.

If you have any more questions and concerns for the FMUA, please send me an email.

Best of luck in the beginning of the school year,

Elyssa Arde (she/her)
